Description
Irena, who once fled Ukraine, now lives in a small Italian town. Her past haunts her as she searches for her present, and the intertwining of the two timelines creates a complex, suspenseful crime story full of mysteries. Irena was once the victim of cruel people, and the unspeakably terrible humiliations are indelibly etched in her memory. The immigrant, who is starting a new life, is helped only by the doorman of the apartment building opposite, who gets her a job as a cleaner. She soon begins to spy on one of the apartments in the building and tries to get close to the family living there. Nothing, not even murder, stops her from carrying out her plan. But before she can gain the family's trust, a figure from the past appears who has tracked down Irena. Secrets are slowly revealed as the story builds to a climax that is as devastating and disturbing as the unknown woman herself. The film was written and directed by Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore (The Legend of the Pianist, Malena), who won an Oscar for Cinema Paradiso, and features music by Ennio Morricone.
